AlreadyOpen!
Privacy Policy
AlreadyOpen! is designed to solve duplicate tabs without turning your browsing into somebody else’s data.
Effective August 11, 2026
The short version
The extension compares tabs on your device. whyThough does not receive, store, sell, or share your browsing history, page URLs, or page content. There are no extension accounts, advertisements, or tracking pixels.
What the extension processes
To find duplicates, AlreadyOpen! temporarily reads open-tab URLs, titles, tab and window identifiers, and top-level navigation events. This information is used only inside Chrome to compare pages, show the duplicate warning, and switch to the tab you select.
The extension does not read page text, form entries, passwords, cookies, private messages, or authentication information.
What is stored
- Your selected behavior—ask, switch, or open—and any excluded site hostnames are saved using Chrome extension storage and may sync through your browser profile.
- Temporary duplicate-warning details are kept in session storage and are removed after you decide or when the browser session ends.
Chrome and Google control any browser-profile synchronization. That processing is governed by their own settings and privacy terms.
Permissions
- Tabs: compares open tab addresses and switches to the existing tab you choose.
- Web navigation: notices when a top-level page is about to open so duplicate detection can run.
- Storage: remembers your duplicate-handling preference and short-lived warning state.
